Welcome Message
I am pleased to announce that we will host the 3rd AAPCHS Annual Meeting in July 2023 and it is a great honor for me to have this opportunity. On behalf of Japanese AAPCHS members, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all members.
The 3rd AAPCHS annual meeting will be held in conjunction with the 59th Annual Meeting of Japanese Society of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery (JSPCCS). The date is July 7th and 8th 2023. Location is Yokohama Japan. Yokohama is located in the center of the mainland of Japan. It takes almost 1 hour half from Narita airport and half an hour from Haneda airport by train or airport limousine. Venue is the Pacifico Yokohama North convention center, that is built in 2021, almost brand-new convention center located in port side and very close to Yokohama downtown. It must be convenient for participants to enjoy nice lunch, dinner, and sightseeing also. We plan on organizing the meeting in person only and it will be the first onsite only AAPCHS annual meeting since the beginning of AAPCHS.
Main Theme of the 3rd AAPCHS Annual Meeting
Four years have passed since the establishment of the AAPCHS in 2019. Although many of our activities have been hampered by the Covid-19 pandemic, now we get able to hold our third annual meeting completely in person. With the number of participating Asian countries increasing and the number of members growing, we believe that it is time for the AAPCHS to move on to the next stage, and we have chosen “Next Stage” as the main theme of this annual meeting. This is because we believe that it is the mission of the AAPCHS to provide the latest information from Asia to the world and to educate Asian young surgeons in order to raise the activity of pediatric cardiac surgery field in Asia.
Academic Program
In addition to the lecture session and the video session by experts, the free oral session and the moderated poster session will be held for the first time. We will call abstract submission for those new sessions. In the afternoon of the second day, there will be a special event, a dry lab workshop using the 3D printing models of complex congenital heart disease from Cross Medical and live surgery demonstration by Dr. Zohair Al Harries at Terumo’s facility, Medical Pranex. Japanese young surgeons who belong to the CHSS Japan (Congenital Heart Surgeons’ Society Japan) will also participate in this special event. The purpose of this program is to train Asian young surgeons for the future. Please take as many promising young surgeons as possible with you.
Conjunction with the 59th Annual Meeting of JSPCCS.
The 3rd AAPCHS annual meeting will be held in conjunction with the 59th annual meeting of JSPCCS. We are preparing the program to provide a forum for lively discussions from a variety of fields in the JSPCCS meeting. Several English-language sessions are also available at the JSPCCS meeting, and you can attend any session with your AAPCHS meeting participation certificate. You can also enjoy the conference starting on Thursday and we look forward to your active participation in the JSPCCS meeting too.
Three years have passed since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic which have caused damage to the globalized supply chain of medical supplies and medicines. Under these circumstances, I would like to express my respect and gratitude to all the members of this society who are continuing their daily medical services without interruption, even though they are at the mercy of COVID-19. I look forward to seeing you all in Yokohama.
